For at least for five games Kyrie Irving, Guard for the Brooklyn Nets, has been suspended due to a social media post made earlier this week.
Thursday November 3rd, 2022, the Brooklyn Nets went through with suspending Irving for a minimum of five games without pay. This was the result, after the Irving had already attempted several times to apologize for promoting the film and disavow antisemitism, as well as NBA Commissioner Adam Silver issuing a public statement expressing his deep disappointment.
To be reinstated by the team, Irving must fulfill six requirements, according to Shams Charania, which are:
- Apologize/Condemn Movie
- $500K donation to anti-hate causes
- Sensitivity training
- Antisemitic training
- Meet with ADL, Jewish Leaders
- Meet with Joe Tsai to demonstrate understanding
